Incorporated in 1902 with logging as its primary industry, Rosepine is a small community with a population of about 1,692 located in the southwest Louisiana countryside. Rosepine is mid point, and home for many who work to the north and south of the town. As the second largest town in Vernon Parish, Rosepine's Elementary School has the highest student population in the parish. Located about 13 miles to the south of Leesville/Fort Polk and only 3 miles north of DeRidder, this Christian community also hosts six churches within its 4 square mile area.

SW LA Beekeepers Association: Commonly Used Bee Equipment.


Monday, January 3rd, 7 PM Rosepine Research Station, 176 Research Road, Rosepine, LA

The SW LA Beekeepers will continue its monthly meetings at a new venue, the old Rosepine Research Station. The topic for this meeting will be useful for new and aspiring beekeepers because it covers the traditional Langstroth equipment used most in local beekeeping.

Beauregard Master Gardeners Class Enrollment & 1st Class


Thursday, January 6, 2022, 1 PM, NEW VENUE! Rosepine Research Station, 176 Research Road, Rosepine, LA.

The Master Gardeners of Beauregard Parish will start new Master Gardener in-person classes, and khawkins@agcenter.lsu.edu .

Master Gardeners are AgCenter Volunteers who receive horticultural training in weeds, insects, plant diseases, turf, vegetables, ornamentals, and other related topics. Classes will be on Thursdays from 1 pm until 4 pm and will end in April.

SWLA Forestry Association Annual Meeting & Forestry Forum: “Let’s Visit Again”


Saturday, February 12, 8 am - 12 Noon, Rosepine Research Station, 176 Research Road, Rosepine, LA.

 After two years of absence due to the coronavirus pandemic, The LSU AgCenter and SW LA Forestry Association will be presenting programs to help forest landowners and professional foresters with managing their forests more profitably.

      • Property Tax Update, Mr. Brent Rutherford, Beauregard Parish Assessor
      • USDA-NRCS Update, Mr. Corby, District Conservation

The cost is $25 per household comprised of a husband, wife, and dependent children. The cost also includes annual membership dues and entitles members to attend other workshops at no charge.

Beauregard Parish Private Pesticide Applicator RECERTIFICATION Training


Tuesday, March 29th , 3 pm and 7 pm, Rosepine Research Station, 176 Research Road, Rosepine, LA

If your pesticide applicator’s card will be expiring after March 31st, 2022, then you need to attend recertification training. The LSU AgCenter and the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) will hold two applicator training classes at the War Memorial Civic Center, DeRidder La at 3:00 PM OR 7:00 PM. This is only for those folks who need to RECERTIFY, and cost is $40.


TWO CHECKS WILL BE NECESSARY: $15 for instruction by LSU AgCenter & $25 for license by LDAF. For more information, contact Keith Hawkins at 337-463-7006 or email at khawkins@agcenter.lsu.edu.
